Inspector Posts LDCE 2026 – Circle Preference

One of the most important points in the 2026 LDCE is the Postal Circle preference.

Candidates have to provide their order of preference for all 23 Postal Circles while submitting the online application.

This preference is used for allocation of Postal Circle to successful candidates, and the notification clearly states that once the preference is exercised, no change will be entertained at a subsequent stage.

Therefore, candidates should fill their Circle preferences very carefully.

How Will Selection Be Done?

Since the recruitment year 2022, the Inspector Posts LDCE selection procedure has been based on an All-India level vacancy and common merit list.

Eligible feeder-grade officials from all Postal Circles can appear in the examination irrespective of whether a vacancy exists in their particular Circle.

The Postal Directorate prepares a common merit list corresponding to the notified All-India vacancies. Successful candidates are then allocated to Postal Circles on a merit-cum-preference basis.
This means that candidates should not assume that selection will be restricted to vacancies available in their current Circle.
